Do you Love your RV? Do you want to share your enthusiasm with others who are passionate about RV’ing? Consider attending one of the many RV rallies that are held each year throughout the country.

One of the largest RV rallies in the world is held each year in Perry, Georgia. The annual event was recently held from March 14-17, 2008 and included two days of “Early Bird” entry for a minimal fee.

Is RV Insurance Right For You?

Published by Melissa under RV Insurance

for your recreational vehicle is one of the smartest things you can do to protect what is likely one of your biggest assets. Yes, you can just add your recreational vehicle to your car insurance policy, but will you really be getting the coverage you need should an emergency arise?

Specialized will do more than just cover the cost of catastrophic loss; it will also cover items that are permanently attached to your recreational vehicle such as awnings, chair lifts, and antennas.

It is important to consider how often you use your RV when you decide which type of policy is best for you. Some policies, such as the VIP policy offered by ’s, offer a discounted rate once your RV is parked and in storage. It is important to have the right coverage at the right time for your RV.

An RV is really a mix between a car and a home and your coverage should be a mixture of the two. Of course you want coverage if you are in an accident, but you may also want “homeowner” type insurance for your RV that will provide you benefits should you lose the use of your RV.

Like a good homeowner’s insurance policy, a useful policy will provide reimbursement for contents inside the RV and emergency funds should you need shelter and are far from home. that has full replacement benefits, will allow you to replace your RV with a comparable, new RV should the one you own be totaled.

The more options you choose for your , the higher the cost of your policy. All policies are different and it is best to do some research before committing to one agent. You should always take into consideration the total cost of your RV, upgrades that you have added, and the valuables you have inside so that you have a good idea of what it would cost to replace everything. Then you can begin to weigh your risks and decide which plan is best for you.

If you don’t drive your RV often and only use it for family vacations a few weeks a year, you won’t need an expensive policy. If you live in your RV full time, treat your RV as the home it is and make sure that you have the best insurance that you can afford. You never want to get stuck without your mobile home and no way to replace it.

Be Prepared: The Motto for Any Successful Camping Trip

Published by Melissa under Camping Hiking Backpacks

Ok, so you have decided to take your family on an RV trip. You went with your parents when you were little and the memories you have are of catching your first wide-mouthed bass and swimming in a cold lake. You want to give your children memories that they can hold on to forever, and you hope that someday they pass on the same traditions.

Being prepared (remember your boy or girl scout training) is the best way you can ensure your family has fun and does not spend too much time running around for forgotten items. Remember that you will probably be in a remote area in the middle of the woods. Once you get to your destination it will be difficult to find items such as forgotten medication or even basic first aid supplies. Nothing will ruin your vacation faster than having to spend time looking for an all night pharmacy or grocery store.

So, where do you start?

My suggestion is to start by having each member of the family write down a list of items they want to bring on the family adventure. This can include anything, because as the parent, you reserve the right to veto any unnecessary or ridiculous items that are on the list. Encourage your children to write down items that they will need such as , pillows and games. This will give your children a lesson in being prepared and allow them to have a say in what they bring on vacation.

Once you have your children focused on their lists, as the parents, you get the task of listing all the items you need to meet the basic needs of the family. Yes, you can add your hostess cupcakes to the list, but make sure that you also include the items your family will need to get through the length of your vacation.

A solid checklist includes categories such as: Clothing, Cooking Utensils, Food, Outdoor Furniture, Games, First Aid/Medication, Tools, and Fire Starting Supplies. What you need will depend on the length of your trip, the weather of the area you are visiting, and whether you will be sleeping in a tent or an RV.

Even after all this careful planning, it is still likely that you will forget something. Decide if you can live without the item and if you can, forget about it. The last thing you want your children to remember about the trip is how mom or dad couldn’t stop talking about the matching plastic dishes that were bought special. Forget about it and have fun.
